Tangbian Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The name of Tangbian Formation was described by the Geological Survey Team in 1982. The key section is the Kekou-Tangbian section between the Qianshan and Hengfeng counties (117º41'E, 28º16'N).
Lithology and Thickness
The Tangbian Formation is composed of brownish red and grayish green sandstone, siltstone and mudstone, with interbeds of sandy conglomerate. It is 240 to 3060 m in thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Tangbian Formation conformably contacts with the underlying Hekou Fm.
Upper contact
The Tangbian Formation conformably contacts with the overlying Lianhe Fm.
Regional extent
It distributed in Qianshan, Hengfeng, Guangchang, Taihe and Ganzhou areas.

The formation yields ostracods Cypridea sp., Cyprinotus sp., Pontocypris sp., Candona sp., Candoniella sp., Iliocypris sp., Pseudococypris sp.; dinosaur egg Elongatoolithes elongates sp. and Spheroolithus sp.
